The Ghetto and the Tiberina Island Tour with Carlo
We will walk with this tour in the heart of Rome, starting with a visit to the Fountain of the Turtles, built in 1588 in the Sant’Angelo district, and then arrive later at the Portico d’Ottavia, a monumental complex built to house the Temples of Juno and Jupiter.
We will have the opportunity to admire the Marcello Theater, initially designed by Julius Caesar and then built by Augustus, evidence of the importance of games and shows in Ancient Rome.
Walking through the splendid historic center of the city, we will also visit the main Synagogue of Rome in the area called the “Ghetto“, admiring this place of prayer from the outside, a cultural reference of the Jewish community of Rome.
Finally, we will explore the only urban island in the shape of a ship located in the center of the Tiber, the Tiberina Island, which in ancient times housed the Temple of Aesculapius, God of Medicine.
Going down directly to the island, we will also be able to admire the Basilica of San Bartolomeo, which was built right above the ruins of the Temple of Aesculapius.
